The last encounter
HSV Hamburg started the match with significant personnel problems, as Jens Vortmann, Niklas Weller and Casper Mortensen were also out for the short term, in addition to the long-term injured. In addition, HSV had to cope with the loss of Tomislav Severec after just six minutes, who had probably torn his Achilles tendon.
Stuttgart, with a compact and physically active defense, quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to early goals from Adam Lönn and Kai Häfner. Despite the first HSV counterattack goal from Frederik Bo Andersen and a timeout from Torsten Jansen, Stuttgart continued to dominate and led 17:12 at halftime.
In the second half, HSV only held on until 21:16, but had to take its last timeout at 27:17. Hamburg's defense showed weaknesses, and Stuttgart took advantage of this to extend its lead to the final score of 35:26.
