The last encounter

HSV Hamburg started the game well against HC Erlangen, but scored the first goal before the home team dominated the game. Erlangen quickly went ahead 6-1 and maintained a comfortable lead until the 15th minute. HSV fought through a period of errors to 10-8 and reduced the deficit to 15-12 before half-time.

After the break, the gap remained between two and three goals. Hamburg's attempts to catch up were thwarted by Erlangen's goalkeeper Klemen Ferlin and the defense. Dani Baijens, who received a curious third time penalty, was missing from HSV in the decisive phase. Erlangen took advantage of its numerical superiority and the use of young players such as Tim Gömmel to secure the victory 30-28, while Hamburg could no longer catch up.
