A look at history
There have been a total of 20 meetings between the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig and the MLP Academics Heidelberg, with Braunschweig winning 11 times and Heidelberg 9 times. The games between these two teams are often hard-fought and characterized by high intensity, as both teams regularly compete for valuable points in the league. The first meeting took place in the 2011/12 season and ended with a narrow 78:76 victory for the Löwen Braunschweig.
The last encounter
Braunschweig started the game with a lot of energy and dominated the first quarter. In the 6th minute, Meisner put the Lions in the lead with a three-point shot after converting a precise pass from Brown. Shortly before halftime, Robinson extended the lead to 38:30 with a quick fast break.
After the break, Heidelberg came into the game better and reduced the deficit to 45:42 in the 25th minute with a layup from Ely. However, the Lions' defense continued to hold firm and did not allow any easy points. In the 35th minute, Mushidi increased the lead to 68:58 with a shot from the three-point line, which ultimately sealed the victory for Braunschweig. Although Heidelberg came back to 72:68 in the final phase with a dunk from Breunig, the Basketball Lions defended their lead and secured the important home win.
