The Dresden Eislöwen started strongly against ESV Kaufbeuren and put the guests under pressure right from the start. But the Eislöwen were not discouraged and scored 2:1 in the 19th minute when Porsberger successfully completed a quick counterattack. The Eislöwen dominated the second half and increased their lead to 3:1 in the 30th minute with another goal from Knackstedt. Kaufbeuren tried to catch up, but could only reduce the deficit to 3:2 in the 57th minute with a goal from Voss. Dresden defended their lead and secured the narrow but deserved victory.
