The last encounter
The Düsseldorfer EG started the game with a lot of pressure and created two dangerous chances early on through Kammerer and Ehl. In the 7th minute, Kammerer put the DEG in the lead after he put a precise pass from Barta in the goal. Shortly before the break, Ebner extended the lead to 2-0 when he successfully completed a quick counterattack initiated by Svensson.
The DEG remained the dominant team on the ice in the second half. The Cologne goalkeeper prevented another goal from Fischbuch in the 35th minute after he had a promising opportunity. The Cologne Haie fought their way back into the game in the final phase and reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 50th minute through Mo Müller. Despite a hectic final phase and several attacks from the Haie, Düsseldorf defended their lead and secured victory in this tense derby.
