Borussia Dortmund’s 3–2 victory over Hamburger SV on 21 March 2026 was a match featuring two completely different halves. HSV were already leading 2–0 at half-time, but Dortmund turned the match around after the break to secure a 3–2 home win.
HSV got off to the better start and took a 1–0 lead in the 19th minute through Philip Otele. Hamburg consistently capitalised on Dortmund’s uncertainties in the first half and added to their lead before the break: in the 38th minute, Albert Sambi Lokonga made it 2–0 for the visitors. HSV thus went into half-time with a surprising but effective two-goal lead.
After the break, Borussia Dortmund stepped up their game significantly. BVB increased the pressure, became more determined in attack and pulled one back to make it 1–2 in the 73rd minute through a penalty converted by Ramy Bensebaini. Just a few minutes later, Serhou Guirassy equalised in the 79th minute to make it 2–2, bringing Dortmund back into the game for good.
